Erebus, Child of Chaos
6/10/21
Almost a year ago I made this game in a weekend for the GMTK Game Jam 2020. with all the clumsy mistakes that come with that this game still looks good.
The idea to scramble the controlls came directly from the game jam's theme anouncement: control. I wanted to find a simple type of game that a player would understand quickly, so I could fully explore the idea of scrambling controls.
Much like Stardew Vally's Journey of the Prairie King or the Atari's Berzerk Eribus is a muti-directional shooter.
While there where things that I wanted to implement that I was not able to, it was important for me to prioritize the work to make this game as good as possible in the short time span. As an example, to prevent the enemies from stacking up perfectly while the player is running around I wanted to have the enemies get confused at the same time as the player.
